Make lunch a little more fun! This DIY Kate Spade inspired lunch bag takes just a few minutes to make, is easy to customize with the cheeky phrase of your choice and quite frankly it just makes me smile. I made two of these Kate Spade inspired lunch bags. One says “Definitely not donuts” and the other says “I swear this is kale.” They make a cute gift for a friend or will brighten up your desk and provide some potentially much needed humor come lunch time.

Reading has always been my thing. When I think back to my childhood bedroom there were plenty of toys but the thing I remember most was the wall to wall shelves that were lined with books. Hundreds of books just waiting to be read over and over and I loved nearly all of them. Now as a parent one of my biggest goals is to raise children who love to read. Kids who beg for just one more chapter.
I’m happy to say that years of reading with Kayla has translated into her becoming one of those kids. Over Thanksgiving break she went through a stack of books. And even though her books are smaller than the 400-700 page ones I tend to get lost in, they sure do add up. Especially when you’re traveling! [Read more…]

Sprinkled With Fun Holiday Baking Gift

This post was sponsored by Hallmark Signature through their partnership with POPSUGAR Select. While I was compensated to write this post, all opinions are 100% my own. #NoOrdinaryCard
Need a gift for someone who loves to bake? Or how about a parent or grandparent who wants a special activity to do with their kids or grandkids? This holiday baking gift is the perfect starter to help them create something sprinkled with fun this holiday season. I made mine for a very special neighbor who has become a part of our family in partnership with Hallmark.
Family is family. But if you’re lucky, you meet a few people who start as friends, colleagues or neighbors and become family. It doesn’t happen overnight and it usually isn’t one big thing but a thousand tiny things which turn a friend into family.
Super Mario Bros DIY Cross Body Bag
Thanks to Nintendo for inviting us to experience #3DSKidForADay I made this Super Mario Bros DIY Cross Body Bag as a fun project to take along.
Kayla and I are taking a mother daughter trip to Nintendo HQ this week in celebration of being a kid. I felt inspired to take a nostalgic piece of Nintendo and give it a modern twist for Kayla. I transformed a plush version of that magnificent coin box many of us remember from childhood and turned it into a cross body bag for Kayla in just a few minutes.
Remember this? It came along with mystery. Would it be filled with coins? A mushroom? Or in this case a candy filled mushroom and a few new games for Kayla’s new 3DS XL to bring on our travels. Making this Super Mario Bros DIY cross body bag is simple and quick. Anyone can do it and you’ll feel like a kid in the process.
