Remind your Harry Potter fan to clean their room while giving them a giggle with my free Harry Potter printable! If you have a child that loves Harry Potter then you’ve probably acquired some LEGO Minifigures recently. When we found Dobby, I had the idea to create this Dobby is free printable, reminding her to clean her room.
You might remember that last year I gave a Kayla a modern tween bedroom makeover with a Harry Potter twist. We installed new flooring with Mohawk’s Air.o which was exciting after years of stained carpet. It also forced us (me) to move everything out of her room and do a massive purge of the junk kids seem to accumulate.
A year later, we’re suffering from a relapse of paper scraps, half finished craft projects, birthday gifts and random things I’ve bribed her with while trying to get a few more minutes to browse Target in peace. Aaannnnnd I’m a bit tired of playing the role of nagging-clean-your-roon-mom. Don’t make me be that mom!
Just the other day, I was chatting with a mom friend from school and we both commiserated in the fact that our daughters are excellent at accumulating things and not so willing to part with anything. We briefly debated as to whether adding more storage or purging was the answer and quickly came to the conclusion that purging is definitely the answer.
When LEGO released the Fantastic Beasts Minifigures, Kayla and I dusted off our Lego bag feeling skills and after squeezing many a bag located our much beloved Dobby. If you’re not completely familiar with the Harry Potter characters, then Dobby is a house elf who becomes free after receiving a sock from his fairly evil master. Most fans of Harry Potter adore Dobby and were so happy to see him freed that they probably would have cleaned their own rooms.
Therefore it felt fitting that Dobby be the focus of this not so subtle reminder that we parents are not house elves…even though it often feels like we are. So, the way I think this will work is that I’ll be purging while Kayla is at school, leaving it to a small edit like last time and letting her make the final decisions. After that, she’s getting Dobby as her reminder that frequent maintenance is on her, not me.
