When I think of summer I think of sprinklers, ice cream and roller coasters. The shock of that cold hose water, the thrill of the first dip on a roller coaster and the challenge of eating your ice cream before it melted in the sun. That’s childhood right there. To celebrate the end of another school year and the true beginning of summer, I treated Kayla and Blake to some surprise ice cream in our cul-de-sac.
Since the ice cream truck doesn’t make its way to these parts, I customized a vintage cooler and brought the thrill of the ice cream truck to our street. With King Cones, Chocolate Eclair and Strawberry Shortcake bars there was something for everyone.
Here is actual footage of Kayla seeing a Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake ice cream bar for the first time. I have no idea what she thought it would look like, but when she saw it come out of my ice cream cooler, she was SO excited!
That pulled on my heartstrings a bit because Strawberry Shortcake was always my top pick from the ice cream truck. I can still remember having sweaty little crumpled dollar bills tucked into my pockets just praying I’d hear that music from afar getting closer.
Kayla loved her ice cream bar so much that when I asked her to hold mine for a minute while I helped Blake SHE ATE BOTH. She’s lucky she’s cute! Blake was excited about ice cream in general. Much like Craig, he’s an equal opportunity ice cream consumer. Is it ice cream? Can you eat it? Blake is in!

Did you know you can grab boxes of individual flavors of Good Humor bars or this big multipack at Walmart? And what’s better than that? You can order it online with Walmart’s Online Grocery Pick-Up option. Choose a time slot that works for you, pull in to a designated parking area, call the number on the sign and within a few minutes your groceries are wheeled out and put in your car. I would have used this a thousand times over when Kayla was a colicky baby!
I was greeted by Rick, who handed me an ice cold bottle of water a welcome bag filled with product samples and proceeded to review what I Had ordered and put it all in my trunk. I kept thinking to myself WHERE AM I??? Is this really Walmart? The last time someone in a retail store handed me a bottle of water it was because I was buying hundreds of dollars worth of clothes. Not picking up ice cream, bubbles and vegetables.
