Spring is here! The season of perpetual organizational hope. If you’re like me, it starts with some innocent closet rummaging. Then, internal promises are made to declutter, revamp and live like those minimalist folks on Instagram. You know, the ones moving into Airstreams with their family of six, where the bathroom is basically in the kitchen.
Then comes the reality check and the realization that you do in fact appreciate a wide line of demarcation between kitchen and bath. Yeah, tiny house living probably isn’t for us. Or perhaps you’ve come to terms with the fact that you’re more of a stockist, like me. You want plenty of the essentials and places to keep them on hand. Or you simply never want to find yourself toilet paperless at two a.m. Fair. I’m all about keeping the expectation bar knee high.
We’re moms. And if we don’t find ways to have a good, hearty laugh at the life we’ve signed up for, then we’re doing it all wrong. I love my kids, I love my husband, I love the crazy, fun, draining, memory filled life that is moming. But I’m pretty sure that pigs are going to be reach 30,000 feet and turn on their wifi enabled devices before anyone else in this home changes the toilet paper roll.
I spent last week at luxury hotel for a work conference. While there, I was speaking, nominated for an award and wined and dined a bit (ergo, maybe I sort of mattered?) A few days ago I returned home to my most favorite humans in the world to resume my normal life.
Read: I changed every toilet paper roll in the house, started three loads of laundry and had shade thrown at me by a three year old who wanted to know WHY I hadn’t made him NOODLES AND MEAT AND SAUCE within a couple of hours of my return. That’s penne bolognese to the rest of us, btw.
So, yesterday as I was unboxing a delivery of Charmin Ultra Soft Cushiony Touch from Amazon (my virtual assistant in motherhood) I was feeling cheeky. The next thing I knew, my fingers were flying across the keyboard and I was channeling that hotel life, but with a teensy bit of mom snark.
Which is precisely how I would up making these DIY hotel toilet paper labels. You know, those little stickers the maid comes and puts on the freshly changed roll of toilet paper. This one bears the name Chateau Mom and says it’s “where the toilet paper practically changes itself.”
WHERE IS THE LIE, LADIES?
I bet you a date night that my own mother is somewhere squinting into the screen of her iPhone and giggle snorting at her long time wish that someday I have children just like me. Yes mom, you win. The prophecy is fulfilled.
Yes, there were FOUR of us kids and you didn’t even have Amazon. They certainly weren’t delivering Charmin to your house and giving you coupons to make it cheaper than going to the store. Need toilet paper? Does anyone not? Stay home and save an extra $3 with code 3MEGACHARMIN right here.
I totally ordered it myself so I know you also get an extra $2 off right now. Less money on toilet paper means more money for shoes! Or trips. Or camera equipment. Whatever your thing is…you get the point. I picked the Ultra Cushiony Touch which is Charmin’s irresistibly soft Family Mega Roll Toilet paper with a unique cushiony touch. After all, why should my shade throwing preschooler have anything less for his derriere?
Anyway, if you’d like to give yourself and maybe your family a good laugh the next time you change the toilet paper roll, I’ve got you covered. You can grab my chateau mom DIY hotel toilet paper stickers here. Print them on some inexpensive sticker paper, cut them out and you’re good to go.
Change that toilet paper roll. Have a good laugh! You deserve it, right? And yes, it’s totally okay to laugh in the bathroom alone while DMing a pic of your cheeky Charmin to your bestie. That’s what this new generation of mom life is all about. And while we might think there is so much we are doing wrong, we’re almost certainly getting these kinds of things right!
Want to save my DIY hotel toilet paper stickers for later? You can pin them from here or pin the image below and they’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready.
