Want to save more, feel organized and spend less time grocery shopping? I do. I partnered with Flipp to show you how.
Recently I shared my chocolate celebration bark with you. It’s cute, fun to make and even more fun to eat. But you want to know something weird? It was actually fun to shop for. YES. Shopping should be fun. Much like the girls from Beverly Hills, it is one of my greatest skills. Bottom tick the price on that cute J.Crew top I’ve been eyeing? Check. Track down that amazing Mara Hoffman dress I couldn’t stop thinking about? Check. But grocery shopping? Yawn.
Too bad grocery shopping is one of those truly essential things we need to do. Don’t even get me started on flyers and coupons. Those flyers show up every week and take a direct trip from my mailbox to the recycling bin. If we’re being realistic, I won’t retain any of the information I get from them anyway. History has also shown there is a 98% chance that I will completely forget to use a coupon in the rare instance I actually clip it. And I’m thinking I’m not alone, right?
Oh, I’m also the WORST at remembering to take a grocery list with me. I try to be organized and write a list only to forget it on the counter or lose the Post-it somewhere along the way. But what if all of that could be different?
Here’s the thing. It CAN. Enter Flipp!
While I was home with a sick Blake watching Diego rescue some baby animal or another, I downloaded Flipp (a free app available for IOS or Android) on my phone. It quickly prompted me to enter my zip code, pick the stores I like to shop at and pulled up those local flyers I always toss. Flipp makes deal seeking easy! I could swipe my way through circulars and tap to circle items I want to purchase, which were then added to my digital shopping list. Neat, right?
But wait, that’s just the beginning.
Remember that paper list you can NEVER remember to bring (if you’re me) with you? Simply jot things down on paper, snap a photo of it and Flipp will transcribe the shopping list and add the items to the in-app list. Now, when at the store, you can reference your shopping list from your phone (which you always have with you anyway) and can check off items as you go.
I actually purchased all of the ingredients for my Chocolate Bark recipe using Flipp. I also didn’t forget my shopping list because I was able to access it on the go from my phone. For this grocery trip, my shopping list included Teddy Grahams, sprinkles, chocolate chips and M&M’s. Plus, thanks to Flipp, I had found a deal for M&M’s on sale – hence saving some money!
With Flipp’s new Store Mode feature, I also was able to break out my shopping list by aisle for the store I planned to shop in. NOW YOU’RE JUST SHOWING OFF!!!
At this point my head exploded. Okay, it didn’t really explode. Someone had to take care of Blake. But whoa. I always wanted to be one of those women I read about, who enter a grocery store with a list sorted by aisle. Meanwhile, I’m usually the girl making 37 random circles around the store and 180 degree turns mid-aisle because, oops…just one more thing.
For quite possibly the first time ever, I left the store with everything I needed and without making multiple trips down aisles or going back and forth around the store trying to remember if chocolate chips were in the candy aisle or the baking section.
Thankfully I didn’t forget anything, but if I had, Flipp makes it easy for others to partake in the shopping and pick up a missing ingredient, or two. The family sync features lets you share the grocery list with your spouse (or anyone else) so you can cross items off as you go and never again debate about who was responsible for the strawberries.
I saved money on this trip – $6.47 to be exact. However, what really mattered to me was saving time and my sanity. Time is money. Most of us don’t want to pay more than we have to or spend more time than we absolutely have to in order to save. For me, Flipp takes the diligence of keeping track of paper circulars, stores club cards and coupons, and brings them into the modern day world to suit our needs as modern moms and small business owners.
I didn’t make many resolutions this year, I’m generally not a fan. But I did vow to work smarter not harder. To find small ways to tackle my to do list each day. With Flipp I can shop smarter, stay organized (because that was totally not happening before) and save money in a way that makes sense for my life.
Flipp is free and available for iOS and Android. To download flipp visit the Apple store or Google Play store, and share how much you saved.
And if you’re feeling like you might need to celebrate this life changing little piece of technology, go on, make my celebration bark. You won’t regret it.
