These Christmas Tree Mini Pizzas are the perfect kids food for holiday parties. This blog post was sponsored by Stonefire Authentic Flatbreads but the opinions are all mine. #HelloNaan
In recent years it has become family tradition that Christmas is at our home. It’s wonderful. It’s chaotic. It’s one step away from National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s also kid centric since we have lots of visiting children and we’ve got some picky eaters. So this year I’ll be making these christmas tree mini pizzas.
They look really cute and are both easy and fun to make. In fact, they’re the not only the perfect kids entree but a great activity for busy little hands. Here’s how I did it.
I used Stonefire mini naan loaves as pizza crusts since they are pre-baked and the perfect thickness for a pizza crust. I also love that Stonefire naan can be found in traditional grocery stores but lacks the added preservatives most store bought bread contains. This Christmas tree cookie cutter is great because it has a soft top which means little hands can push down on it without getting hurt.
Cut out tree shapes for your Christmas tree mini pizzas using the cookie cutter. You can save the remnants for dipping!
Next have your little chefs spread pesto on the trees. I chose pesto because it’s green and well, Christmas trees are green. If your kids don’t like pesto you can always try pizza sauce or hummus. I love adding hummus to snacks since it’s more nutritious.
Sprinkle with shredded cheese. My kids love sprinkling shredded cheese. There is something about it that makes it fun sensory play and of course it’s good for fine motor skills so let them sprinkle that cheese! The cheese is snow on the tree. You get where we’re going with this right?
Last but not least, your mini Christmas tree pizzas will need ornaments. I found some mini pepperoni slices at my local Ralph’s where I picked up my Stonefire naan and thought they were perfect for ornaments. Of course you can also use vegetable pieces as well. Bell peppers would work perfectly here.
Once your trees are decorated it’s time to bake them. Since the Stonefire naan is already baked you can simply pop these Christmas Tree Pizzas in a toaster oven on the toast setting and mine were done in 4-5 minutes.
I love super simple recipes that allow for you to customize them and are kid friendly. Since the holidays can be hectic this is a quick way to feed a group of kids that feels festive but familiar to them. And we all know that if kids participate in making something they are far more likely to eat it.
