This is me when the holidays start approaching. And by approaching I mean now. I am a woman on a mission. I want our home to feel merry and inviting. There need to be plenty of pillows, blankets, towels and sheets. And I don’t want to think about it in December so I start in fall. Can you see me in there? A sliver of human behind some big fluffy pillows?
What about now? Yep. Can’t forget the toys and the 60 indoor snowballs I bought last year for indoor snowball fights. Some hilarious memories there, and more to come this year. When it comes to home decor my style is simple, clean and neutral with unexpected details and textures plus the occasional pop of color.
This year I set out to add a few high quality pieces built to last that I could use not just during the holidays, but also other times throughout the year. And oh my goodness did I fall in love with these pillows from Annie Selke. Have I mentioned I have this thing with throw pillows?
My background is in textiles (textile science was one of my favorite things in school) so the rope appliqué got me. It was this special, unexpected touch that reminded me of icing. Paired with a bold but not too bright red it felt holiday without having a reindeer running across it.
I picked out a pair of pillows and a big cozy throw to make our sofa ready for the many visitors we’ll have sitting, lounging and snuggling in our living room over the next couple of months.
Are you an online shopper? A catalog lover? Both? I’m both. I still think a printed catalog brings things to life in a way that most online images do not. Annie Selke publishes a really beautiful catalog that is perfect to browse through while stealing five minutes for yourself over a cup of coffee to find home decor inspiration. Their products are well curated and high quality so they’re built to last through many seasons. You can request your own here. I like to mark what looks good and then go online to piece it all together and figure out exactly what I need.
Now I can focus on making a few DIY projects with my own holiday touch. I took this vessel I’ve been meaning to fill for a good year and made a tiny jingle bell terrarium. It took just a few minutes and the end result was very much my style.
If the Annie Selke style is for you then they have a nice giveaway going with three $500 gift cards up for grabs. You can see the full details and giveaway below!
