Here are 5 easy tips to drink more water. This post was sponsored by Brita but the opinions are completely my own based on my experience with Brita® #Fuelwithbrita
If you’re a coffee lover like me then you know it’s important to drink more water to counteract the dehydrating effects of caffeine. But that’s always easier said than done, right? Here are 5 tips to drink more water coming from someone who has always thought of water drinking as a chore.
Make It Fun
Make your water more fun by adding flavors you love. Berries, citrus, cucumber and herbs like mint or rosemary are all great ideas for flavoring your water. Today I’m using pink lemons (yes, they’re a real thing!) and limes. Use whatever you have sitting in your fruit bowl or fridge and you’re bound to find neat flavor combinations.
I simply added a hand full of pink lemon and lime slices to my I picked up my Brita® Slim pitcher and some fruit at Albertson’s before adding any water. The water flows through the filter and then hits the fruit getting infused with flavor before you drink it. If you can remember to do this at night you’ll wake up to some really nice fruit infused water minus many of the impurities you’ll find in tap water.
Keep Track Visually
If you’re like me, you can’t remember what you ate for breakfast yesterday or wore two days ago. This is why I love having a visual reminder of how much water I have (or haven’t drank) so far. The Brita Slim holds 5 cups of water which is a realistic goal for me.
While writing, taking photos, making a DIY project or chasing my kids around I can glance over and check my progress. The slim profile and petite size of this pitcher mean it can fit in our fridge easily and it doesn’t take up too much real estate on my desk.
Make It Accessible
That’s right, I put that pitcher right on my desk and then I have no excuse. It’s so easy for me to down a huge cup of coffee without realizing it. By simply moving that coffee and replacing the cup with a water glass it’s amazing how you can change that habit into a healthy one over the course of just a week.
Take It To Go
One of my favorite gifts has been this water bottle. I take it with me most places these days and it keeps my water cold even if I leave it in the car during the day which is crazy living in San Diego!
I also love that I have no need for disposable plastic water bottles now. They are so wasteful and heat up far too quickly. One Brita filter can save 300 plastic water bottles.
Be Like Your Littles
I am constantly refilling sippy cups and water bottles for my kids. Why not myself? I made these fun marbleized water bottles the other day and as soon as Blake saw them he desperately wanted to drink water out of one. Since I had two I started mimicking him and he thought it was just the funniest thing EVER.
I also realized that we were both drinking a glass of water and having a ball together. I feel lucky that my camera was nearby and Craig was able to capture the moment. He was so happy! And it reminded me that we both learn from mimicking, not just my toddler.
