Need a kid friendly cleaning kit? I’m sharing how to make your own in partnership with Four Monks Cleaning Vinegar.
Looking for a kid friendly cleaning kit? I’ve got you covered. If you read my post about Inherited Anti-Cleaning Disorder then you’ve come to the right place. Here’s simple kid friendly cleaning kit with some fun supplies that might just gasp get your child to help clean!
First figure out which aspects of cleaning might appeal to your child. Most kids love to use spray bottles, like my daughter Kayla. Some kids are obsessed with sweeping like my son Blake. You’ll want to adapt your kit to emphasize what they find fun. Sneaky parenting, right?
I started mine with a spray bottle of Four Monks™ Cleaning Vinegar because it’s non-toxic and vinegar is an appropriate choice for most of the surfaces I would typically ask her to help clean. It comes in two scents – aroma controlled and citrus mint. I gave Kayla the citrus mint.
A shower tote comes in handy for keeping everything neat and tidy because the last thing you need is a mess of cleaning supplies, right? I added some reusable cleaning wipes rather than paper towels which kids go through like crazy and a Magic Eraser to my kid friendly cleaning kit. You can use a regular sponge if you’re unsure about the Magic Eraser. We frequently use them to clean scuff marks on shoes so Kayla knows her way around one.
I also added a little duster with disposable dust catchers. It’s fluffy, fuzzy, fun looking and it might just mean one less dust bunny to look me in the eye before coffee. Everyone knows where their primary dust gathering spaces are. Under the kitchen stools is a big one in our home so I’m hoping to outsource some of the upkeep on that spot to Kayla.
Kayla was pretty excited about her kit because it looked more like a present than a chore. It was colorful and filled with a variety of textures. It’s also possible that I presented it as HER VERY OWN, which instantly ups the value on just about anything these days now that she has a little brother getting into her things.
And I quickly found a first project for her. Cleaning off our water table for the season since it has suddenly become hot here in San Diego. She insisted that she use my spray bottle because she didn’t want to use hers up and I was completely fine with that arrangement. Blake supervised while she went to town on that water table. I was impressed with how quickly all of the dirt, mold and general winter yuck came off of the plastic using the Four Monks Cleaning Vinegar. Now if only I could teach Blake to do laundry. My life would be complete!
