If you’ve seen my other Shopkins party favors then it’s no surprise that with the release of Shopkins Season 3 it was time to create a few new ones. These Shopkins surprise necklace party favors are easy to make, don’t require any expensive materials and you can customize them to suit your child’s preferences.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Shopkins – I used Season 3 Shopkins
for these Shopkins party favors.
- Clear cellophane wrap
- Curling ribbon
- You can also add things like:
- Individually wrapped candy
- Quarters
- A gift certificate for an ice cream cone at a local ice cream parlor.
At Kindergarten graduation one of Kayla’s sweet friends had made garlands for all of the girls in the class that contained candy and quarters as a little gift. They were adorable and since my brain is like a hamster wheel, they got me thinking…I made two types of Shopkins party favor surprise necklaces. One included some individually wrapped candy and the other had only Shopkins.
Your party favor budget might play a big factor in this. Obviously it’s less expensive to supplement with candy and use a mix in your necklaces. In the version I made that was all Shopkins and no candy, I added a couple of blind bags and put them inside the little shopping bags. This way each child will get some Shopkins that are a total surprise.
To make the necklaces all you have to do is cut a piece of cellophane wrap that is about 6 inches wide and as long as you’d like your necklaces to be. Next, lay out your Shopkins and/or candy in the middle of the cellophane. Space them enough so you have some room to tie the ribbons around each section. Wrap the cellophane around the Shopkins so you have what will look like a tube. You can use a piece of washi tape to keep the tube closed if it makes things easier for you.
Next you’ll want to tie each section with some ribbon. I highly suggest you take a very long length of curling ribbon and curl it FIRST. Then you can cut your desired length and tie it around the the little sections. This eliminates you having to curl each little piece as you go and it’s a massive time saver.
You’ll be able to create these necklaces really quickly if you use this trick. You can either secure the two ends of the necklace with another piece of ribbon and you’re all done. Kayla FREAKED OUT when she saw these so I imagine any Shopkins obsessed child would be delighted. Especially if you manage to pop a few Season 3 Shopkins in there!
