If you’re like me then you want the best for your squishy, snuggly little bundle of baby. When I was pregnant with Kayla who is now 6, major changes were happening in the baby world. A massive realization that things like BPA were B-A-D was happening and you really saw a push of parents demanding better choices for their babies, rather than simply accepting what was given to them by traditional baby brands. Thank goodness. Chlorine free diapers were new, revolutionary and ugly looking. We bought them anyway. Nearly 6 years later with Blake, things continue to progress. And now parents have options that focus on safety, ingredients and style.
It’s no secret that The Honest Company has been my choice for all of Blake’s diapering needs from day 1. Yep, they came to the hospital with us and the nurses went bazonkers over the level of cuteness. I won’t lie, I love the fun prints. But what’s more important to me is what isn’t in the diapers. I’d say that what Honest has become known for is products that parents like me can appreciate for what is in them and especially what is not in them. Which is why I was very excited when I heard that The Honest Company was debuting a feeding line.
If you are a parent who has had to turn to baby formula for whatever the reason and you’re a label reader who is very aware of ingredients, you’ve likely been disappointed by your options. I spent a ridiculous amount of time researching and doing comparisons between brands of organic baby formula because if I had to turn to someone else to effectively feed my most precious possession in the world, I was going to find the best possible option.
I’m not even going to get into the whole mom wars battle over this topic. Ain’t nobody got time, patience or petiness for that! I will say though that is wonderful to see a natural products focused baby brand recognize the need to provide parents with a good option for baby formula with their Organic Premium Infant Formula.
There are a bunch of neat items in The Honest Company’s new feeding line besides formula. See the blanket Blake is sitting on? I actually had someone ask on Instagram where the blanket was from but it’s actually a super cute 2-in-1 nursing scarf from the Honest Feeding line. It also works as a sarong. I know because I shamelessly rocked it poolside in Palm Springs last weekend…and got complimented on it.
And if you’ve done the mental glass versus plastic debate over baby bottles you’ll probably want to check out the new silicone bottles. They come in 5 oz. and 8oz. sizes and are designed so that whether the bottle is filled with breast milk or formula the only thing the liquid inside touches is silicone. Admittedly, I wasn’t sure how these bottles would work, or if they’d be hard to use since I knew they would be squishy and flexible. Blake seemed to LOVE them because it was easy for him to grip and hold on his own. He was all hands off mom, I’ve got this. Which meant I was able to lean back and watch Kayla at soccer practice comfortably while he fed himself. I’ll take it.
Also in the lineup are a clever nursing pillow free from toxic foam and other components often used in nursing pillows. Which makes me rethink the nursing pillow from my mothering past… There’s Lactation Plus which any nursing mother will tell you is a bit of a godsend. And if you’re shopping for a baby gift for a friend, there is always The Honest Company gift card. We received a couple of these when Blake was born and I thought it was the most thoughtful gift because it balanced knowing what I was all about with the gift of choice.
