I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Carter’s. I received a complimentary gift card to facilitate my post and thank me for my participation #SpringIntoCarters
Confession: I am not big on organized photo shoots. As much as I love taking pictures of Kayla and Blake, there is something about an organized shoot that just doesn’t work for me. Fussing over outfits, having to be somewhere at a certain time all dressed in some coordinating fashion and smiling but not smiling too much for a stranger…it’s just not our style. However, there is something to be said for getting some nice photos together. And it doesn’t hurt when those photos have children in clothes that aren’t covered in paint. I’m all about candids and cute clothes. The photos that happen on the way to taking the photo you originally planned to take. Like this one…
And this one…
Seriously, little man looks like he’s just jumped off the Warner family jet in Miami. Only it’s a Toyota Highlander and it’s staying here in San Diego. Because we are not completely outrageous people. Which is why I love popping into Carter’s, throwing together a ton of cute outfits for the kids and feeling like I kind of got away with robbery when I see my total.
On my most recent grab-all-the-things run I wanted some very functional spring clothes for Kayla, a few accessories and a fancy dress or two. With Easter coming I figured that wouldn’t be a problem. While shopping together, Kayla and I saw this toile dress at the same time and had a moment. “MOM this looks just like your married dress!” If you guessed that was my wedding dress you would be correct. And if you’re questioning if I really wore a blue toile dress, you would also be correct. It was my something blue. Only mine lacked the coral accent…which led me over into the baby section to see if I could find something for Blake.
Carter’s makes it pretty easy to coordinate in a not-overly-gaggy-matchy-matchy way between siblings of different ages and genders by offering a nice selection of items that just work together. Blake got a neon coral polo and some hipster jeans (which are really baby jeggings) at their doorbuster prices. Which left plenty of room in my budget for some fun accessories like this necklace.
Our in house jester immediately gave me a teeny tiny glasses and duck lips look as soon as we got home. Which is how I know she is unquestionably my child. With summer quickly approaching and San Diego being the home of eternal sun, Kayla picked out a pair of glittery heart shaped sunglasses (of course) that she would be happy to wear for our family beach walks and I chose some aviators for Blake as well. Because the family who wears snazzy shades together stays together…or something like that.
As luck would have it, during our walk by the beach that night I happened to capture one of the most special moments between Kayla and Craig I have ever seen. I don’t think about it daily, but it’s alarming when you realize how quickly time is flying. The idea that in a couple more years it might not be “cool” to be curled up in your dad’s arms like this is sort of heart breaking. So this is definitely a moment to be treasured.
As a bonus, we’ve now got a “printer” for Father’s Day! And in the end, the first photo was the closest we got to one of those perfect sibling Easter outfit photos. Which is just fine with me.
Whether you are looking for picture perfection or just some really adorable outfits for spring, you’ll find it all at Carter’s. Dressy Easter items are there for the taking. Tees and shorts are available as $6 and $8 doorbusters. I usually throw a bunch of those into my bag as play clothes. I’ll feel absolutely zero guilt as they are outgrown, but am always impressed by how they are built to last. If you’re thinking about the sunny days ahead there is a pretty nice selection of swimwear and accessories like the sunnies we picked up. Want to snag a deal like I did? Here’s a coupon for you to grab 25% off of your purchase of $40 or more. Now go get your kids some sweet sunnies and show me your family pics!
