Holiday Party Kids Table Activity Tray

December 16, 2013 By Jillian Warner

If you’re hosting a holiday party this year where kids will be present, then I think you’ll love this holiday party kids table activity tray.  It’s filled with lots of creative entertainment for children preschool age and up.  All of the components are inexpensive or DIY and easy to make.

To put this tray together I used one of those fancy little ceramic egg trays and filled it up with supplies I knew Kayla would enjoy.  Jingle bells, bakers twine, paper beads, washi tape and homemade play dough.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of making these before, but paper straw beads seem like such a no brainer.  Just cut up a few straws in holiday colors or whatever you have on hand.  They string very easily on baker’s twine which also comes in an array of colors to match your event.

These jingle bell bracelets are easy enough for a 4 year old to make on their own.  Just string the jingle bells on the bakers twine and tie a knot to close it.  If you want to maintain spacing between the bells then tie each bell with a knot after you string it.

I’ve made this homemade play dough a bunch of times now and I’ve figured out the key to making it so you don’t wind up with dyed fingers.  I’ve done it using natural pigments and using gel food coloring by mixing it into the water first when originally prepping the ingredients rather than after mixing the dough. You can see my recipe for homemade play dough I made around Valentine’s Day.

And If your guests are on the young side for my activity tray, then I love the idea of setting each place with a healthy snack like this reindeer mandarin with an individual portion of homemade play dough in a to-go container.
