Did you catch my tissue paper topiary that uses these bow ties? If you missed it, you can see it here.
To make these crepe paper bow ties, you’ll start out by laying out your crepe paper. You fold a strip that’s appx 4″ long and then keep wrapping it around itself without cutting until you’ve gone around about 5 or 6 times. This makes the bow tie more sturdy. If it’s too flimsy it won’t hold the shape well.
Cut the crepe paper from the roll and lay it flat on your table. Cut a 5-6″ piece of crepe paper and fold it in half or thirds lengthwise to form the piece that will wrap around the center.
Scrunch the bow tie in the center and pinch it. It won’t completely hold that pinch but it will hold the mark while you get your strip to wrap around.
Wrap the strip around the pinched center and keep going around the bow tie until you use up the crepe paper or you decide it looks wrapped enough.
